Unlike Bram Stoker’s monstrously mystifying Dracula, my reimagined Count in Dracula/Harker: A Gay Gothic Romance is more an immortal man endowed with not spectacular but subtler vampiric powers—for example, he can neither defy gravity nor transform into mist. But what he does have in spades over the original soulless characterization is a brooding demeanor and mercurial temperament born of a lovelorn heart that informs his every word and action whether conciliatory or vengeful.
